Abstract

The study aimed to determine the level of competency and capability of the school-based review program as percieved by the Alliance International Review Center Incorporated - University of the Visayas College of Nursing year 2008. The design used in the study is quantitative, descriptive correlational design. The following findings of the study: a) That 55% of the reviewers are fresh graduates, 29% are second courses, and the 16% are shiftees. b) It also showed that in most of the affecting factors on competency, the program was rated highly competent in 4 areas and competent in one. c) On the other hand, it was rated capable on 4 areas of capability, and highly capable on one factor. d) There is no significant realtionship between profile and competency (Qualifications). e) That there is no significant relationship between profile and competency (Content Review). f) Tha there is no significant relationship between profile and competency (Schedule (hrs.) per subject) g) That there is no significant relationship between profile and competency (Fees) h) That there is no significant relationship betweem profile and competency (Accreditation state of Nursing Program) i) That there is no significant relationship between profile and capability (Facilities) j) That there is no significant relationship between profile and capability (Personnel). k) That there is no significant relationship between profile and capability (Appropriate site/venue) l) That there is no significant realtionship between profile and capability (Relevant support servies) m) That there is no significant relationship between profile and capability (Organizational set-up and staffing of the review centers which will manage the review program). n) That there is no significant relationship between profile and capability (Financial capability) 0) That there is no significant relationship between profile and competency. A conclusion is then drawn that the evaluation of the school-based review program is highly competent and capable. It also showed that there is a significant relationship between capability and competency.
